DENIM DARNING
Darning is the process we use to repair jeans. Unlike patching which covers up a hole with a swatch of fabric, darning uses thread to fill in holes. Darning can be a lovely repair because we have the ability to match the thread to the garment and play with the colors. We can do holes from the size of a coin to the size of a fist.
Note: Jeggings are NOT good candidates for this repair. Also, the repair will be stiff when you first receive it, but will break in over a few wearings. |
Other Things We Can Do
Taper legs
We can taper the legs of your jeans from the knee down to get rid of too much flare or to match the new style trends. An important note: Make sure you can fit your foot through the leg opening. Jeans with stretch are best suited to the skinny style.
Take in waist
Tired of your jeans sliding down? Not a belt wearer? We can take in the waist of your jeans to fit your body shape. This repair is best done with a fitting so we can match your curvature. Please keep in mind if the waistband is taken in, the seat must be tapered to match and the new size. This will change the look of the back seam.
Replace zipper
We can replace zippers in all kinds of jeans. Yes, even pairs with elaborate stitching on the fly.
Regular hem
Classic cut fold and stitch. We will match the thread as closely as we can.
Original Hem
As the name implies, an original hem is the original hem of the jeans scooted up when we shorten them. A technique designed to preserve unique hem details like fading, designer scuffing, etc.
Replace pocket bags
We can replace the front pockets in your jeans. In some cases, we may have to remove rivets to access the repair areas. We will replace the rivets, but they may not match your old rivets.
Replace Buttons
We have a stock of tack-back buttons to replace your jeans button. We do not have donut-style, specialty or extra large.
